-Artist / Group: Elvis Presley with the Jordanaires

-Mini bio: Born Aron Elvis Presley on Jan. 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. Died of heart failure caused by prescription drug abuse at his Graceland mansion in Memphis on Aug. 16, 1977, age 42. Moved to Memphis in 1948. First recorded for Sun in 1954. Signed to RCA Records on Nov. 22, 1955. With his good looks, a passionate bluesy voice, a great band (Bill Black, bass; Scotty Moore, guitar; D.J. Fontana, drums), a smooth vocal quartet (The Jordanaires), and managed by Tom Parker (died on Jan. 21, 1997), Presley blazed his way to the # 1 star of rock & roll, a position he has not yet relinquished. Made his nationwide TV debut on Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey's Stage Show on Jan. 28, 1956. Starred in 31 feature movies (beginning with Love Me Tender in 1956). In U.S. Army from March 24, 1958 to March 5, 1960. Married Priscilla Beaulieu on May 1, 1967; divorced on Oct. 11, 1973. Priscilla pursued acting in the 1980's beginning with a role on TV's Dallas. Their only child, Lisa Marie (born on Feb. 2, 1968) married Michael Jackson on May 26, 1994; divorced in 1996. Elvis's last "live" performance was in Indianapolis on June 26, 1977. Won Grammy's Lifetime Achievment Award in 1971. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. The first rock & roll artist to be honoured by the U.S. Postal Service with his own commemorative stamp on Jan. 8, 1993.

-The only way to get any of the above four Elvis songs on a 45 is on this E.P., none of the above songs were ever released as a two song single 45 or 78 RPM. Further, this is one of the harder original pressing Elvis EP's to track down because it sold in small numbers and consequently never charted.

-In 1956, RCA Victor Canada was still pressing Elvis Presley 45's on a flat back label with the non-photographic dog on centre right, and printed information all in silver ink. In the U.S. the Strictly Elvis EP was pressed in three different configurations, but none the same as the Candian pressing with old fashioned dog, flat black label and silver print.

-Because of the small numbers produced, the 1956 Canadian pressing of Strictly Elvis is extremely rare today, particularily in nice VG++ condition.

-Picture sleeve: Strong VG++. There is a small factory crease at the top centre, and the original 1.50 price is written neatly in pencil on the back cover, top left hand side. There is also a tiny pinprick of a hole on the lower right hand side of the front which does not penetrate through to the other side. The front is solid with bright vivid colours, no sign of ring wear or rubbing. The back is in similar fine condition. There are no seam splits, tears or writing other than the original pencilled price mentioned above. Beautiful collector's condition! Please see scans.

-Picture sleeve printed in U.S. and sent to Canada to be married with the pressed in Canada vinyl.

(M) Mint: We don't use this grade as no record is perfect, even SS records can have tiny flaws.

(SS) Still sealed: Still sealed in the factory shrink wrap.

(M-) Mint minus: A nearly perfect record. The record will show no obvious signs of wear. Original finish intact. Picture sleeves should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.

(VG+) Very good plus: The record will show some signs that it was played or otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or light scratches. Picture sleeves may have some slight ring wear, lightly turned up corners, or a small seam split.

(VG) Very good: Many of the defects found in a VG+ record or sleeve will be more pronounced in a VG record or picture sleeve. Groove wear may be noticeable, the record may have light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound, but the foreign noises will be less prominent than the music. Picture sleeves may have quite prominent ring wear. Creases, folds, seam splits and tears will be more obvious and may appear on all three sides, and there may be writing as well.

(VG-) Very good minus: Foreign noises may be about as prominent as the music. The record still plays through without skipping. The picture sleeve will have more significant seam splits, perhaps to the point where they were taped closed, and highly obvious ring wear and heavier writing. Can serve as a filler until a better one comes along.

(G) Good: We seldom offer a good record for sale unless it is particularily rare for the following reasons: Foreign noises are louder than the recorded music and listening can be distracted by the noise. May or may not play through without skipping, but should be so noted. Picture sleeves are so badly seam split that they may not be able to contain the record within.Tears, folds, writing and ring wear may be overwheming.
