Description
Sub Pop Rock City, Various Artists vinyl LP
Classic grunge compilation.
The standout track is, of course, the Nirvana song, which really stands head and shoulders above the rest and is testament to Cobain's real skill as a songwriter. It morphs quite naturally from country into a heavy metal wigout and showcases his trademark vocal range. But the remainder of the album is a fascinating snapshot of that era and sound and well worth the time and money. Mudhoney and Soundgarden contributions are also excellent. Tad and Swallow very good. The Thrown Ups is a great garage experiment. Mark Arm features in three of the bands! There's a strong sense humour throughout and the discovery of something new and liberating is captured beautifully in this package.
Licensed from Sub Pop on Glitterhouse Records. Lovely gatefold sleeve with atmospheric slow shutter photos of the bands, in excellent condition for its age. Vinyl in excellent condition. Inner sleeve standard poly-lined paper.
Turn it up and freak out!
