Where to begin.
This is a Sue Records acetate coupling “I Can’t Believe What You Say” by Ike and Tina Turner with “Mockingbird” by Inez and Charlie Foxx.
You can see from the scans of the two labels that this is an EMI disc acetate and has clearly been produced for Sue Records. I’ve never seen another Sue acetate before so have no idea whether Sue records were pressed up by EMI or whether the origins of this acetate are linked to the recording studio where the tracks were cut.
I can reassure potential bidders that this acetate came from a bona fide source as all this collection comes from the same 60’s DJ. There is no reason to believe from my point of view that this is anything other than the real deal – a genuine Sue acetate from the mid 1960’s. If anyone has further information on how this coupling came together I’d love to hear from you and will post your comments on this listing for others to see.
As for condition – the A-side is reasonably clean and visually is in very good condition. Playing, there is a bit of surface noise throughout the track but is not too intrusive. The B-side vinyl is very dull and looks as though it has been in close proximity to plastic for a long time. As a consequence the track plays with constant surface noise and only grades as fair. It maybe that this surface can be cleaned with the appropriate cleaner, but I am not brave enough to attempt this!
I have no idea if the versions of these two tracks are the released versions so if you want sound clips just ask. If they are alternative version, please let me know!
So there you have it – a chance to own possibly a unique piece of Sue recording history!
All of these singles come from the same special source – an original 60’s Top Rank DJ who started in the ballrooms and progressed to radio and record production in the 1970’s. Postage and packing for one record will be £1 UK, £1.80 Europe and £2.50 USA and the Rest of the World. For two records, the costs are still just £1 UK, £2.20 Europe and £3.20 USA and the Rest of the World.
Insurance will be required if the value of the order exceeds £34. If you refuse insurance and the record is damage or goes missing in the post, I’m afraid we cannot be held responsible and will not entertain any claims. UK record delivery is an extra 70p and special delivery is £4.75. Overseas insurance will be either £3.50 or £5.50 dependent upon the value.
Payment by PayPal is preferred for all customers; though I will accept cheques or postal orders for UK customers. Overseas customers must pay by Paypal unless agreed otherwise prior to auction end.
