Having kicked down the door for Britpop with their sensational debut album the year before, Suede doubled down on the gothic nature of their sound for its dark, cinematic successor Dog Man Star, released in 1994. Produced in the context of a deteriorating relationship between Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler - who would depart the group before promotion began - it was defined by ambition, characterised by melodramatic orchestral ballads and widescreen indie epics. It also produced the charting singles ‘We Are The Pigs’, ‘The Wild Ones’ and ‘New Generation’. Thirtieth anniversary edition includes restored artwork and a new essay from Simon Price.
