Nuff said!
No?
Ok then. Here's the lowdown
On his sixth studio album, Sufjan Stevens faces two chief conundrums; firstly, how to maintain one the most revered catalogues in modern indie, and secondly, how to follow an album of such absurd, unbridled ambition as 2010’s epic Age of Adz.
His solution, it seems, has been to return to his roots, on a record rife with the sparse, melodic folk last heard on Seven Swans. It may mark a retreat, but it’s one which comes with nary a hint of pastiche or nostalgia, with the stunning single Should Have Know Better already provided fans with an idea of what to expect.
Sure to rank among 2015’s finest, and described by The Guardian as “the best record Sufjan Stevens has ever made,” Carrie & Lowell is essential.
