Description
Sun Ra Quartet featuring John Gilmore New Steps stereo Horo 25-26 2 record set with foldout cover
Unusual and musically amazing quartet session and never legally reissued, lp or cd.
John Gilmore (ts), Michael Ray (t), Sun Ra (keys), Luqman Ali (d) Recorded 1978
The first record sides 1 and 2 looks and plays M-. No scuffs and no scratches. Grooves are glossy and bright and look unplayed. The second record, sides 3 and 4 , looks M-/VG++ and plays M-. Side 4 has a light scuff that is not into grooves app 1 inch long. It didn't cause any audible problem. Side 4 has the wrong label from the Burton Greene Horo Lp but the side plays the correct music
The cover is VG+.
The cover is taped app I inch wide along top and bottom of entire cover and along the spine. The tape can be seen 1/2 inch on the outside and 1/2 inch and on the inside. It's a professional job, not messy or unsightly and probably done because the cover was coming apart from faulty gluing which seems very common on Horos. The front cover is bright and shiny with light wear. The back cover is bright and shiny with light wear. No split seams. Spine is intact and readable. Inside the foldout there is a tiny bit of staining and a strip of yellowing discoloration app 1/2 inch wide at the top and the bottom that is caused by the glue used to hold the cover together. This is extremely common on the Horo doubles and I don't think I've ever seen one that didn't have it. It's not unsightly but is noticeable.
Black lines that might be visible at bottom left and top right in pictures are due to photo cropping and not on record.
I WILL NOT END AUCTIONS EARLY. PLEASE DO NOT ASK.
My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas. I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied. No hassles.
