Description
I bought this in 1993, shortly after the soul of Sun-Ra had transitioned into the next realm of his spritual journey. I was fortunate to walk into "Philadelphia Record Exchange" in Philadelphia, where an affiliate of Sun-Ra had just unloaded a stack of albums, and I was able to purchase this amazing piece of jazz history.
This is only 1 lp. The ornate side is Volume One. The other side is Volume 2. Maybe a misprint? Definitely a mystery.
Again, this is one lp.
This is a test pressing. It was said to be owned and decorated by Sun-Ra, himself. There may be others, but none like this.
Volume 1-side A, is adorned with a collage, said to have been created by Sun-Ra. It has cut outs of different sorts, and reads "SATURN" "volume 1" "ENTERPLAN BMI" around the outer edge. "MONTREUX JAZZ" "SUN-RA AND HIS ARKESTRA" in the center.
Volume 2-side B, has 3 stamps. "VOLUME 2", "ENTERPLAN BMI", ? 1977 SATURN, and is signed “Sun-Ra”
Issued in 1977 on the Saturn label, with hand-drawn and collaged label, said to have been done by Sun-Ra, himself.
The inner sleeve has "RA" written in red marker.
The album cover is white.
Volume 1/ A side Matrix reads "M S 706", which has been crossed out, followed by "M S 7 (with an additional 7 over the 7) 976 A
Volume 2/ B side Matrix reads "M S 8 (with an additional 7 over the 8) 976 B
This album plays beautifully.
There is barley any visible wear on the vinyl record.

This is one of a kind.
You will never find another like it.
