WOW!!! Here's a true find for you, a SUPER RARE northern soul single on Theoda Records #T-3206, from 1964 it's Clifford Binns doing Again It's Christmas/It Was Only Yesterday. This single is a rare one to ever see for sale or auction, and this specific one is in really terrific shape, making it a true find. The A side is a weirdly wonderful little melancholy Christmas song with a really stripped down arrangement. It is only Clifford Binns singing with an organ accompaniment - then a trombone comes in to hold the melody, while Clifford does a voice-over about his feelings on Christmas. Pretty cool and weird at the same time, and not something you'll hear every year with Jingle Bells. The B side is more a dance number, with a steady beat and full band. On both sides, you can really enjoy Binns' range and delivery - he sounds great. The labels on this one would be VG+ - they are pretty perfect, but they do have the drill hole, marking them as cutout (see pix). There is minimal aging in them, and only the slightest bit of wear...they are really well kept though. The wax is beautiful - super clean, and devoid of any digs or scratches. There are VERY minor scuffs from age, but none that hinder or affect the play. I would go VG+/VG++ on the wax quality here, as it is wonderfully clean. I heard a few pops, but nothing consistent or distracting. This is important especially, on Again It's Christmas, because with the sparse arrangement, the record really works well, because of its high quality. Surface noise would spoil his Christmas for sure. You are going to be VERY pleased, if you are the one to win this Northern Soul treasure - good luck!
