Up for sale is a wonderful audiophile re-issue of a memorable breakthrough album from a British progressive rock group.  This LP has the dead wax etch mark of "SR/2" signifying that it was cut, at half speed, by the legendary mastering and recording engineer Stan Ricker (who is actually credited by name on the back of the jacket).  You can really notice the difference in the quality of the recording when you listen to this LP!

Crime of the Century was the third studio album released by the British rock band Supertramp which had formed in London in 1969.  Both their first two albums and a previous tour had been unsuccessful.  When recorded in 1974, the group consisted of:
Bob C. Benberg - Drums, Percussion [actual name Bob Siebenberg] Roger Hodgson - Vocals, Guitar, Pianos John Anthony Helliwell - Saxophones, Clarinets, Vocals Dougie Thompson - Bass Richard Davies - Vocals, Keyboards, Harmonica
Benberg, Helliwell, and Thompson were all new members.
Crime of the Century has been critically acclaimed with many (including some of the band members) feeling that it represents Supertramp at its artistic peak.  The album made top 40 in the US and rose to #4 in the UK.  In 2015, it was ranked #27 in Rolling Stones' list of the greatest progressive rock albums.
