Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab has made a number of significant advancements in both materials and mastering techniques. The company uses superior plastic compounds for their high definition vinyl which is more durable and  produces less "noise" during record play. The Half-speed mastering process is able to capture greater detail and complexity because with a slower speed, precisely synchronized half-speed playback of original master recording and matched cutting lathe effectively doubles the amount of time that the cutting stylus is in contact with the lacquer coated disc.

I am certainly not an expert on half-speed mastering so please forgive me if I have failed to describe this process clearly.
