LP - Surrender - 'Self-Titled'
TRACKS : ... see 2nd photo aboveINFO : One of the 'holy grail' albums for collectors of Aussie Hard, Melodic classic Rock as well as Metal fans. The very much obscure self-produced (limited numbers pressed) only studio foray for this Sydney outfit that is one heck of an album !!
So who these guys and what happened to them ? ... that's the point here as nobody seems to know much about the band ... even the Who's Who dictionary of Aussie Rock sheds no light (other than the members names) and it seems they simply vanished after this DIY blockbuster appeared even though they earlier supported Uriah Heep on tour here in September of '74. As well as the promo flyer also included is a note from their agent Darren of 'Pulse Promotions' flagging the availability of the band to support the 1985 Jimmy Barnes national tour and which I gather (from zero info available) didn't eventuate. So a mystery here for sure so you would surmise that somebody out there could shed some light on the subject. Anyway back to this album .. and what a cracker it is. For fans of melodic hard rock with soaring vocals (akin to early Rainbow springs to mind) entwined with classic guitar solos mixed with some metal-ish belters makes for a very impressive and well produced outing. A theateresque lead-in rolls into a thumping rocker and away we go ... 8 rock solid classy tracks later you want to re-flip it and soak it all up again. How this band is not more widely known and appreciated is one of rock's tragedies and dare I say the chances of stumbling upon a copy these days are slim indeed let alone in such brilliant condition as this platter is.CONDITION :
VINYL : Very difficult to fault at all. Glossy throughout and EX for mine.
LABELS : Clean as per photos above.
LYRIC INSERT : EX+ to Near New. No writing, marks or creases.
PROMO FLYER : As NewSLEEVE : VG+ to EX. A little and not unexpected ring-wear on the back and a touch of age-wear with very minimal creasing. Overall a very pleasing jacket.
