If you’re unsure of Suzanne Vega’s place in the cultural firmament, then let the artist herself tell you. “I felt I was sort of the left of Joni Mitchell and to the right of Patti Smith,” she said in a 2023 interview.

The album fairly flies by in less than 38 minutes, with not an ounce of filler. It’s a satisfying listen that adds lustre to the career of one of the era’s best songwriters.
