Both works narrated by Derek Wright. Soloists from New Decade Opera and Redbridge Music School Singers and Instrumentalists. Conducted by Edna Graham.

Both works are written as melodramas (in the English sense of the word) and to have a Music Hall sound. Hissing the villains and cheering the heros' is the order of the day. They were aimed at performance mainly by children.

Millions more people have heard something of Carey Blyton's music than realise it.

He wrote widely for television, film and advertising, and his Bananas in Pyjamas became a huge success in The Great Banana Phenomenon, a series of 200 five-minute TV shows each topped and tailed by Blyton's song.

Carey, nephew of the famous children's writer Enid Blyton, was born in Beckenham in 1932 and lived there some 30 years before moving to Swanley where he wrote most of his music and stories. Other achievemnts  include composing three scores for Dr Who TV serials He was Benjamin Britten’s personal editor, from 1963 to 1971, being responsible for the editorial work on that composer’s works from “Curlew River” to “Owen Wingrave”, and on many works by Gustav Holst.

Bonus: A compact booklet that contains words, narration, lyrics and music for both works.

On the UK Meridian label M44002 from 1984 (although dates in the paperwork suggest Sweeney composed earlier - 1971?).  LP record has a couple of light marks but plays very well. Booklet and sleeve in good condition. Payment by Paypal or UK cheque
