Swell Maps Read About Seymour 7" PS Nikki Sudden RARE

Hello vinyl junkies, I’m knee deep (elbow deep?) in grease and rusty or missing parts while restoring a classic car (and have another waiting in the wings if I EVER finish the current one) so I'll be slowly selling off the bulk of my record collection to finance these projects… therefore I'll be continuing to list hundreds of LPs and singles over the next few months, so please keep checking back

Anyway, let's continue with this 7" single by the Swell Maps Read About Seymour b/w Ripped & Torn and Black Velvet released by Rather Records in 1977.  (Gear One). Single comes in its original picture sleeve and record label flyer inside.

This is the first pressing from 1977 on Rather Records with no mention of Rough Trade anywhere on the record or sleeve. (The record was re-issued in 1978 on Rough Trade.)

The Maps on this disc are: Nikki Sudden (guitar, vocals, tambourine), Phones Sportsman (guitar, vocals) Epic Soundtracks (drums, baking trays, Chinese cymbal, background vocals), Jowe Head (7 string bass) with hangers on: Dikki Mint (vocals) Golden Cockrill.

Single and sleeve are both in very good condition. The single has no marks!  The sleeve has a a 4" seam split on the left side as well as several light creases on the sleeve and a small brown stain on the top but no writing, cut out marks, price tags, rips, tears or other flaws.

There is also a flyer from Rather Records inside the sleeve listing their other planned label releases. Mentioned on the flyer is "Gear Three" a planned single by The Swell Maps titled "Harmony In Your Bathroom" that was not released. "Gear Three" was actually released "Dresden Style" (Gear Three/RT 012) The date of this planned release was "Late '78" which was crossed out and changed in pen to "Early 1979."

Engraved on the trail off vinyl is the following "Read All About It Boys" on side one and "To Mark Solid Gold Is Gold" on side two

This is an extremely rare first pressing on the debut Swell Maps single - especially difficult to find with the flyer - do not let this one get away from you!

I grade on a stricter scale than Goldmine. I'll take the time to describe any flaws rather that give a letter grade that means something different to seemingly every record seller and buyer... I've received too many records graded by sellers VG++ or NM that were pretty beat up, and I'm willing to bet it's happened to your too! 

All records are removed from the picture sleeve and mailed in a plain white sleeve to prevent seam splits while in the mail. Records are mailed in cardboard record mailers with cardboard inserts to prevent damage.

Domestic shipping costs are $3.25 (including USPS Delivery Confirmation) for one single. I do combine shipping for multiple purchases - generally each additional single raises the price about 25 cents.

Insurance is available for an additional $1.70 as I cannot be responsible for any package that is lost or damaged after it has been shipped.

Overseas shipping is by Air Mail Only (surface mail is not available!) Shipping for one single to Canada is $3.50. Anywhere else in the world is $6.00.
