Description

Syd Barrett Rare Misprinted Version of Madcap Laughs Vinyl Record

Harvest
Catalog Number: SHVL 765
Country: UK
Format: Vinyl (LP)

This is a 1970's reissue of Syd Barrett's The Madcap Laughs.

The reissue is very notable in that it was quickly recalled from the shops by EMI when the printing / manufacturing mistake was noticed but some were sold on before they could be recalled.

The inner gatefold contains the incorrect image. The image used was from the compilation double album Barrett/ Madcap Laughs [r=814281].

I've heard there are are other anomolies on this version such as the catalogue number is the same as the first pressing (SHVL 765) and the print date on the back cover (6911) (Nov 1969) is clearly years prior to the reissue date.

If anyone has any more info about this release I'd love to hear about it, please message me here :)

I do not currently have a record deck, but I can see that the record has many of the light scratches you often get on old records, and even though there are also a few more visible scratches I would guess that the record would play all the way through without skipping.

The cover has some creasing and scuffs but is otherwise intact.
