System Of A Down is the sound of a band arriving with absolutely no interest in fitting into anybody else’s box.
This debut is violent, weird, theatrical, funny, unsettling and insanely catchy — often all inside the same song. The riffs lurch, the rhythms snap in half, Serj goes from croon to bark to full-on lunatic preacher, and somehow the whole thing never loses its grip.
