Steal This Album! has always felt like the secret weapon in the System Of A Down catalog.


It came out right after Toxicity, but instead of sounding like leftovers, it plays like another full blast of the band at their peak — weird, heavy, melodic, angry, unpredictable and completely impossible to mistake for anybody else.


What makes this album so good is how all over the place it is without ever losing the plot. One minute it’s crushing, the next it’s melodic, then totally unhinged, then weirdly beautiful. It’s SOAD doing exactly what made them special.


This 2018 2LP vinyl edition gives the album plenty of room to breathe and is a great way to own one of the more underrated records from their classic run.
