Description

REAL COLLECTOR'S ITEM. VERY RARE AUSTRALIAN SYNTH POP PROG LP - The Takeaways: Crunch Time (Global Records through EMI Custom YPRX 1759) 1980 + Russia Rocks/Illegal Sounds 7" (EMI Custom PRS-2806) 1980
COVER IS NM ... Near perfect. A little very light shelf wear on the back cover.
VINYL is NM ... Can't fault it. may never have been played.
7" SINGLE: NM ... Hard to fault.

Obscure LP released by Ron Carpenter under the name of Takeaways. Carpenter was an early AC/DC drummer and also the driving force behind keyboard progmeisters Aleph. This LP is not a million miles away from Aleph but its a step beyond in that it maintains the multi keyboards but updates the music to incorporate new wave influences...think Ultravox, Japan, OMD and Early Human League. I've also added in the utterly impossible to fiond 7" custom-pressed single that came out at the time.

Here's an essay by Ron on his career including short period with AC/DC and Takeaways: https://havegravity.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/carpenter-ron-bio.pdf

Take a listen to Russia Rocks on You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcOXz7XwxvM

Must have for AC/DC completists and Australian New Wave and Synth Pop collectors.
