Description
Very cool, one of a kind LP for the vintage Jazz guitarist fan. Addressed and signed by Tal Farlow to his parents for Christmas in 1956. It reads, "Merry Christmas to the best Mother and Dad anyone ever had and the best in life for 1956. love, Tal." I purchased this LP from the estate of a sign painter in Greensboro, NC. Tal was originally from Greensboro, NC. It is also known that Tal retired from full time performing in 1958 to return to a career as a sign painter. I can only speculate that maybe the two were friends and somehow the gentleman mentioned acquired this LP from Tal's family or possibly from Tal himself. The vinyl is VG+, it has more than a few very light scratches per side but is in collectible above average condition, deep groove. The sleeve is VG to VG+. The sleeve is clean and has excellent sheen but has 2" seam split top middle and seam split a little over half way across the bottom. If you have any questions at all please ask.
GRADING= This is my grading system to match up with EBay's grading scale. My grading on LP's is visual. If I see a defect that may effect the sound I will listen to it and mention it in the description. If there are any seam splits on the sleeve I will mention them in the description. I may use + or - for a record that falls in between grades.
M= Still sealed and perfect in every way.
NM= Rare LP. Vinyl and sleeve looks like new. No defects of any kind.
EX= Highly collectible LP. Vinyl will have no more than a few light scuffs or scratches per side that cannot be felt. The label will show no signs of wear but a very small unnoticeable defect is allowed. The cover will show only the slightest signs of wear such as corner rubs or light seam wear in spots. There may be some light ring indention that is not noticeable. Sleeve may have cut out marking or hype sticker.
VG+= A collectible, above average condition LP. Vinyl will have more than a few light scuffs or light scratches per side that cannot be felt. The label may show light signs of wear that are barely noticeable. The sleeve will show signs of light wear such as seam wear, corners rubbed & possibly slightly bent at the tips, art work on front & back cover will look nice but possibly have a light loss of sheen or light foxing. There may be some ring indention but no visible ring wear. Sleeve may have cut out marking, hype sticker, or a small marking on back of sleeve.
VG= An average condition LP. Vinyl will have numerous scuffs or scratches, some may be felt. The label will show wear and could have writing, tape or stickers on it. The sleeve will show signs of wear, will have heavier seam wear, corner wear, loss of sheen, or a light crease. Sleeve may have cut out markings, stickers, or small ink markings on front or back.
G= A poor condition LP. Vinyl will be heavily worn and scratched. Label will show heavy wear and could have writing, tape, or stickers on it. The sleeve will show obvious ring wear, seam splits, and may be marred by stickers or heavy writing. Mainly used as a filler for a hard to find record.
SHIPPING= I will ship anywhere in the world. If you are outside the US I prefer to use Priority but will gladly use First Class to save you some money. Please be aware that most countries do not allow insurance on a First Class Package. I will not be held responsible for an item that I cannot insure. If you are inside the US, I use Media Mail. If you prefer Priority please let me know.
PACKAGING= I use quality LP mailers and filler pads. I place the vinyl in a new paper/poly lined inner sleeve. I ship the vinyl and new inner sleeve laying on top of the outer sleeve. I place vinyl and sleeve in a new bubble wrap LP pouch.
