Up for auction is a rare collection of 12 team-specific 7-inch vinyl records from Terry Cashman’s iconic "Talkin’ Baseball" series, originally released between 1981 and 1986. This lot includes versions for the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, and St. Louis Cardinals, among others. 
Records: Excellent – Light wear, very little play.
Sleeves: Good – Showing minor wear, creases along top openings, and aging. 

History of the Talkin’ Baseball Series 

The series began in 1981 with “Willie, Mickey & The Duke (Talkin’ Baseball),” Cashman’s tribute to baseball’s golden era, highlighting Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Duke Snider - the legendary New York center fielders of the 1950s. The song became a nostalgic anthem for baseball fans, leading Cashman to record customized versions for nearly every Major League Baseball team, featuring star players and key moments from each franchise’s history. These records remain cherished collectibles, offering a musical snapshot of the game’s past. 

Terry Cashman's "Talkin' Baseball" series often featured non-baseball-related songs on the B-sides of the 7-inch vinyl records. A common B-side track was "Baby, Baby I Love You” a love song unrelated to baseball.

Similarly, the New York Yankees version, titled "The Bambino, The Clipper & The Mick," also features "Baby, Baby I Love You" on the B-side. However, there were exceptions. Some releases included baseball-themed songs on both sides. For example, the Minnesota Twins version, "Talkin' Baseball (10 Years with the Jays)," had "Willie, Mickey & The Duke (Talkin' Baseball)" as the B-side, maintaining a baseball focus throughout.e.

"Talkin' Baseball" / "Talkin' Football”  A special edition 7-inch vinyl (Lifesong LS-45126) is a unique featuring “Talkin’ Baseball” on one side and “Talkin’ Football” on the other, released in 1985.
Side A: Features "Talkin' Baseball (Tony, 'The Killer' and Carew)", a version of Cashman's classic song tailored to the Minnesota Twins highlighting legendary players Tony Oliva, Harmon "The Killer" Killebrew, and Rod Carew.
Side B: Presents "Talkin' Football", narrated by renowned coach Lou Holtz, accompanied by renditions of "The Minnesota Rouser" (both old and new versions), the fight song of the University of Minnesota*

Collectability: This special edition vinyl is a sought-after collector's item due to its:

(2) The Ken Boyer Story.
The Ken Boyer Story is a 7-inch, 33⅓ RPM flexi-disc released in 1962  by Sports Champions, Inc. as part of a series of narrated audio biographies featuring notable athletes of the time. This one is a narrated audio biography of Ken Boyer, legendary St. Louis Cardinals third baseman and 1964 National League MVP. The record likely highlights his career achievements, contributions to the Cardinals, and baseball legacy.  These flexi-disc records were often distributed as promotional items or sold as collectible memorabilia.  This copy (kind of a baseball card with audio!) has never been played!

Historical Context: Boyer was a key player for the Cardinals during the late 1950s and early 1960s, leading the team to a 1964 World Series victory. His impact on the franchise made him a popular subject for collectible sports recordings like this one. 

Collectability: 
• Produced in the early 1960s, these flexi-discs were often short-run items, making them harder to find today in good condition. 
• Baseball Memorabilia Appeal: Ken Boyer remains a beloved figure in Cardinals history, and items related to him are sought after by collectors.
