AMG Review: The Hello Cruel World compilation is the best way to get acquainted with Tall Dwarfs, but if you want just one of their other albums, this is probably the best choice. Recorded in 1992 and 1993, it has just as much variety as any other disc (compilation or otherwise) by the group, but doesn't wear out its welcome as much over the course of the merry-go-round. Some of their most spaced-out stuff is here: the fogged-over hurdy-gurdy waltz of "Bob's Yer Uncle," the stoner psychedelia of "Two Dozen Lousy Hours" (complete with warp-simulation sound effects), the white blues satire (how long has it been since you heard one of those?) "Postmodern Deconstructivist Blues." They can't resist succumbing to numbing repetitive lo-fi fuzz riffs from time to time (as on "Self-Deluded Dreamboy (In a Mess)"), but after a dozen years it seems unreasonable to expect that they'll grow up in this regard.

CONDITION: Cover VG+ / Vinyl MINT-   sleeve has light creasing and normal wear from housing three records for nearly 15 years; vinyl is pristine, never played. NOTE: from the mid-80s to mid-90s I bought extra copies of each new Tall Dwarfs/Chris Knox vinyl import, and this week am auctioning off a dozen of these like-new duplicate Tall Dwarfs records. They are all Flying Nun New Zealand pressings, and all graded MINT- (my highest grade for an unsealed record), and most of them are unplayed. If you win all twelve Tall Dwarfs/Chris Knox auctions, I will ship the whole lot to you for free -- anywhere in the world -- via insured Priority Mail.

Graded conservatively using Goldmine standards [G / G+ / VG / VG+ / NM / ]
grade only used if record is brand new.
Bid with confidence -- over 9000 positive feedbacks selling vinyl on eBay since 1998, with a total 10-year average of 100% positive.

Shipping And Payment Info

I will combine shipping. Winners of multiple items save substantially on shipping costs. Within the US: shipping is $4.00 for Media Mail. The cost of each extra record is calculated automatically based on weight: if you want to add a record (7", 12", LP or double-LP) or CD to your order the cost is only between 45 cents and 80 cents per extra item depending on total weight. Priority Mail is a recommended option, it's faster and more secure -- cost is reasonable and calculated based on your zip code.

Outside the US: shipping is calculated automatically based on your country and the weight of the record: if you want to add a normal-weight record (7", 12", or LP) or CD to your order the cost is reasonable, usually not more than $3.99 per extra item, often less, depending on total weight.

Records can be shipped worldwide via any method.
  • Within the US: shipping costs include delivery confirmation, and insurance is optional but strongly recommended.
  • For international buyers: insurance and tracking are only available with Priority Mail International or Express Mail International -- contact me for details.
All records are packaged securely, protected by both stiff and cushion packaging.

I can usually accommodate special shipping requests or special payment requirements, just ask.
