A word about freight: No matter what Ebay says, we charge $ 6.90 for media mail and $9.50 (FOR 78's, for the extra packaging), for priority mail for domestic shipping. Overseas is $18.50 for first 78 and $4.00 for each thereafter, if you get over 4 lps then the rate goes up to $5 each, because we have to ship priority mail. When you place a bid on this item, you acknowledge this. They do not take into account, the box price nor any other expense in mailing (petrol, employees etc). This is our rate period. We've had a few complaints about this, but we are in business to make a profit (god forbid). Thanks for understanding. Also, if you do not register your parcel if ordering overseas (An additional $10.50), we cannot be responsible for loss. Thanks for understanding. We pay about $3 each for special boxes and packaging, this rate only applies to 78's. WE WANT YOUR ORDER TO ARRIVE SAFELY. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THIS SHIPPING RATE PLEASE DO NOT BID!!!
THIS ITEM MUST BE PAID FOR WITHIN ONE WEEK OF THE AUCTION ENDING.
What you are bidding on is a very very old, USA pressing of TAMPA RED'S HOKUM JUG BAND: SHE CAN LOVE SO GOOD. The 10" is an original pressing from the early 30's on the VOCALION Records label. This is a classic blues track and would sound great on a jukebox.
Excellent pre war blues on (Vocalion 1540, gold on black label) with vocal chorus by Frankie Half Pint Jackson.
Tampa Red is best known as an accomplished and influential blues guitarist who had a unique single-string bottleneck style. His songwriting and his silky, polished slide technique influenced other leading Chicago blues guitarists, such as Big Bill Broonzy and Robert Nighthawk, as well as Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Mose Allison and many others. In a career spanning over 30 years he also recorded pop, R&B and hokum records. His best known recordings include the "classic compositions 'Anna Lou Blues', 'Black Angel Blues', 'Crying Won't Help You', 'It Hurts Me Too', and 'Love Her with a Feeling'"
I grade the 78's visually inasmuch as I don't have a 78 player to play them. 1-10 ten (10 will be new and unplayed)(6-7 will be VG to VG+). Anything above a 5 is worth having in my opinion. 1-5 they are marked and scratchy, but still may play ok. Bear in mind most of these are nearly 70 years old and they won't look like they came off the store shelf.
