Mercury SR90153, early dark maroon deep groove label, STEREO, 125gm. vinyl.
Recorded in the spacious acoustics of Watford Town Hall outside London in July, 1957. Only three microphones were used in the recording process.

This is an immaculate looking record. An early FR Mercury, pressed by RCA in the Indianapolis plant. Not only on TAS superlist, this record was designated number one on a final first team bakers dozen list of Mercury's best sounding recordings by Sid Marks in a TAS review of Mercury records in 1988. It has very fine musical sound and orchestral imaging. It is a beautiful interpretation by the conductor and orchestra. It has the wonderful acoustics of Watford Town Hall and is an early stereo recording made with three microphones. Overall this is an investment grade example of a highly desirable super sounding audiophile vinyl record. I will be listing more rare vinyl records in the next week or so. Record looks clean and glossy, only couple visible spindle marks, no scratches or marks. Record plays with dead quiet surfaces.

[I visually grade the record in good light. I play grade the record by spot checking several areas, especially areas that have marks. I listen using Grado SR325 headphone w/Grado headphone amp, on a Well Tempered Turntable & arm, mcz Grado cartridge. These are very revealing headphones allowing me to hear any surface noise, although from a close-in perspective. Your experience may differ depending on your system. I clean the record if needed to determine the general condition.
