Perhaps Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet Suite needs no introduction, as it is offered annually by just about every major ballet company in the world during the Christmas season. If it is not the most famous composition in all of classical music, it is certainly within the top three.
Antal Dorati was a well-known conductor in the mid-20th century, working with the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and several others. Here he is conducting the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra based at the Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw (concert hall). Considered one of the world's leading orchestras, Queen Beatrix conferred the "Royal" title upon the orchestra in 1988. This is the complete suite on two LPs, which come in a hinged box with a booklet.
