Back in 1973, a couple years after my second band Phlegethon (born out of the ashes of
The SoulBenders) broke up, I got a call from a close friend of mine, Ed,  who was doing oldies radio
downtown here in Grand Rapids Michigan. He had convinced the owner to allow him to stop
playing oldies at night to play some progressive album rock instead. He needed one more person
to do a second 4-hour shift, so he asked me and of course, I jumped on the opportunity. 
Neither one of us would ever imagine that we were giving birth to the Heritage Rock radio station
here in Grand Rapids that is still playing Rock today. My career lasted 37 years.

In those first couple years were were allowed this format for 8 hours at night, so our playlists were limited.
We did 'not' play 'local' records..not for any particular reason, but there just wasn't
that many anyway. Ed also worked at the station during the day - I only worked at night.
On one of those 'days' this 'Ted Lucas' LP arrived in the daily mail of LP's,
so Ed took it home like he did with a lot of the free LP's we got each day.
That's where this LP sat untouched for the next 44 years.

Well, my dear friend Ed passed away last Summer and his surviving companion asked me to sell whatever I could of his collection. 

Similar to my collection, about half of Ed's collection never landed on a turntable. It was easy to
take free LP's home and file them without ever listening to them - we listened to them while
we worked on the air. Our LP's at home were usually for backup.

The reason for this 'story' is this: We have a copy of this much sought after Private Psych LP that
sat in a large warm room where he had his record collection, for close to 45 years without ever 
being touched. Never played, never even taken out of it's sleeve. As you can see from photos #5 & 6,
the inner sleeve has discolored from age in spots and around the edges. This has left some residue/sleeve scuffs on the
vinyl. Experienced collectors (like myself) know that this is only cosmetic and has no affect on
play, but it needs to be mentioned for the uninformed. 

There are no spindle marks on the labels and the lyrics/merchandise insert is included. The spine isn't perfect (see photo # 7).
 The text is no longer legible and it has many breaks but is not completely split. However, you 'can' see light through it when held up to a light. It won't come apart or split unless you force it or mis-handle it.

The disc is scratch-free except for a couple faint hairlines from the inner on side two, so I'm going to grade
this at Mint Minus - ignoring the 'paper scuffs' / 'residue' that's visible under a bright light.
No guarantees on how quiet the pressing is, but it looks decent for a private press.
While it may not 'play' as perfectly as a "1980's Mint Minus" pressing, it's doubtful you're going to
see another copy of this rare item in this near pristine condition anytime soon (or maybe, ever).
