MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original MAG Records very first Stereo press released by MAG Records, made and distributed in Peru in 1971 by SICA Peruana S.A., catalog number 3258, with hand etched matrix numbers F MG-11253 in Side A and F MG-11255 in Side B, with traditional black/silver MAG Records labels and big hole, with colored “MAG” logo, yellow rim text and red “45 RPM” in Side A and yellow “45 RPM” in Side B. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“Something Going” was the debut single released by Peruvian Psych/Funk band Telegraph Avenue, now considered one of the best Latin American Psych/Funk bands and whose records appear in Pokora’s books as worldwide rarities. And this is the original very first press of the debut single of the band released in Peru in 1971, with both songs sung in English. Song titles are written in English only, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about the registry number of the records in Peru (“1267”). It’s interesting to notice that both songs were written by members of the band, “Something Going” by Alex Nathanson (bass and voice) and “Sometimes In Winter” by Chachi Luján (guitar and conga). The very first press of this single is very easy to identify because the song title “Something Going” is misspelled “SOMETIHNG” and credited to “Alex”. Second pressings have the song title corrected and credits are for “Nathanson”. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE ORIGINAL VERY FIRST PERUVIAN PRESS of the debut single released by Peruvian band Telegraph Avenue, with UNIQUE ERROR, a record rarely seen and only auctioned here in eBay a pair of times before. WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Telegraph Avenue and Latin American Psych/Funk music!!!

This record doesn’t have a cover. The record is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, still glossy and clean, but with many soft scuffs, hairlines and light scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great VG or VG+ condition, clean and clear, with some spindle hole wear, some discoloration and small tears, with faint blemishes. The sound is in strong VG+ or even EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant light crackles and constant soft hiss, more evident in Side A, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record still keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE ORIGINAL VERY FIRST PRESS of the debut single released by Peruvian band Telegraph Avenue, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but still with a very nice glossy look, clean labels and still with a great sound quality after about 49 years, which won’t disappoint anyone!!! And keep in mind Telegraph Avenue is considered one of the best Latin American Psych/Funk Rock bands of all times, whose records appear in Pokora’s book, which gives you an idea of the real level of rarity of this original Peruvian record, with UNIQUE ERROR!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
