Description

TENNENT & MORRISON – S/T (PLEASE SCROLL THROUGH FOR HIGH RES-IMAGES)

An UNBELIEVABLE copy of this psychedelic folk gem! Amazingly rare in any condition this album has reached cult status due to its massive scarcity and (Unusually for some of these hyper-obscure psych records) the quality of the music.

The album features an impressive pedigree of contributors such as members of Stone the Crows and Herbie Flowers which attests to the fact that this is not merely another weird obscure record to add to the collection but rather a fantastic forgotten piece of modern rock history. Somewhat enigmatic, its very existence seems only to have come to light recently, and very few copies are known to exist. Its executive producer was Peter Grant (Manager of Led Zep, The Yardbirds and Bad Company to name a few!), lending it an unlikely Led Zeppelin connection. This one comes complete with the elusive lyric insert.

The full list of players on the album include: Herbie Flowers; Clem Cattini; Jimmy McCullough; Ronnie Leahy; and Dennis Lopez with strings by Richard Hewson.

SLEEVE: EX

Sleeve is in fantastic condition. There are no indentations or ring-wear to either the front or the rear. This is surprising considering the fact that the sleeve is of the un-laminated type. The colours are as bright as on the first day of printing.

The only fault is that there is some edge wear. This is most noticeable on the bottom edge although is present on all edges. I hope that it goes without saying that there are no rips or tears and no other serious defects. The sleeve remains robust and true with the spine text being clear and legible. There is barely any feathering at the aperture suggesting that the record has been removed from the sleeve minimal times. The sleeve is complete with lyric insert which is in great condition save for a bend to the bottom corner. The insert would therefore grade as VG+

RECORD: EX+

A single hairline can be seen on side 2. This does not affect playback. The record looks absolutely stunning with a lack of even superficial marks.

The labels pay testament to the fact that the record has barely been played with only a couple of light spindle marks being visible.

The record plays through beautifully with slight background crackle that can no doubt be remedied by thorough cleaning. There is a tick at the end of track 1 that is audible for 8 revolutions. Owing to the fact that there are no visible marks I can only assume that either there is some dirt trapped in the grooves (which, again, can be removed by cleaning) or that it is a pressing plant flaw.  A genuinely fantastic album in tip-top condition.

The above record grading is based on Record Collector magazine system:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
