Sixteen Tons / Hicktown
VG+ vinyl with clean labels.
Sixteen Tons became Ford's signature song when it topped the charts for eight weeks in '55-'56. For some reason, he re-recorded it ten years later and "popped it out" with more percussion, strings and guitars. The original had become an American classic and this reworking was not received well and failed miserably. Capitol kept the single in print for decades but this swirl label from '65 is the only variation with the different version. Check out the attached soundclip and judge for yourself.
As an added bonus I'm gonna throw in a copy of that first version on an original EP.
