ONE OF the greatest vocalists of all time...and one of the most overlooked works of genious lost to obscurity. Of course he'll always be known as the man who turned down the lead vocalist job in Led Zeppelin in favour of persuing a solo career which ran aground when producer and mentor Micky Most blocked him from leaving the label and signing elsewhere.

This is Reid's debut album, recorded by Most, and it contains a pocket full of deeply moving tracks built on a foundation of blues, folk and rock. The results would be impressive under any circumstances but when you add Reid's magnificient vocals to proceedings the album takes on an entirely explosive vibe.

Deeper and more touching than Van Morrison, wider in scope than Neil Young and more crazy than Syd Barrett's post Floyd output, the work here is sheer genius. Above it all is Reid's fiercely distinctive vocals - a huge roar at times and then, in the blink of an eye, a soft gentle whisper aided and abetted by material that simply lets him fly. The nearest comparison must surely be Steve Marriott. Killer tracks included the cover of Donovan's 'Superlungs', Dylan's 'Hughway 61 Revisited' and the magnificient 'Rich Kid Blues', one of his greatest tracks.

Truly one of the most astounding vocalists of all time - he really should have joined Led Zep; the results could've been even more spectaculor than Robert Plant.

Vinyl: Nice condition. A couple of spindle marks and a few mostly non audible scuffs visible in bright light mainly from sliding in and out of the inner sleeve. Grades as Ex

Cover: Only minor signs of use. Housed in a laminated cover with flip backs. Sharp corners (two edges slightly rubbed), no bends, no dings, no split seams, no sticker tears and one extremely light laminate crease crease. Displays light signs of storage and handling to rear - but very clean and no ring wear - in fact the non laminated back is surprisingly clean. Grades as a solid Ex.
