Description

TERRY RILEY : Persian Surgery Dervishes LP (Shandar/Shanti [France] 83.501/83.502) 1972.

Records do not look like they were played much but there are some marks on side A causing medium to heavy surface noise with each revolution for about the first five minutes. It doesn't skip or stick but the noise is conspicuous. The other sides are visually excellent but they play with light intermittent noise and a few clicks and isolated pops here and there (these always play a little noisy). Gatefold cover is VG+ with light wear and a bent corner (lower right).

Original copy of the 2LP version of this classic minimalist LP. Two full performances of Riley's composition for electric organ and feedback, recorded in Los Angeles and Paris, each taking up an entire LP (Shandar also released the two performances separately). The Los Angeles performance was produced by American avant garde artist/filmmaker Bruce Conner.
