Paris studio Sandfall Interactive frame death and beauty in contrast on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the soulslike steeped in Belle Epoque imagery and ritualised, demigodly combat. French soundtrack artist Lorien Testard mirrors those regency tensions at enormous scale; no wonder it took five years, as it spans 154 pieces and more than eight hours of music, shifting from lyric-led orchestral themes, prog-leaning boss cues and low-lit ambient passages. The music tracks the emotional arc of the named expedition, shifting weight as players move from bloody gothic wonder to ultimate confrontation with the Paintress, a godlike figure who has usurped the scythe of death.
