  GRADING

THIS IS HOW WE GRADE! MOST GRADING IS DONE VISUALLY UNDER A BRIGHT LIGHT! NORMALLY WE DO NOT SOUNDGRADE EVERY PIECE! When we do, it is done on our trusty Califone Player. You should consider that a piece graded on our lower scale (vg/vg+)is still fun to own and fills-in a discography until a nicer piece comes along. Records graded on the higher end(Vg++/m-/sealed) will be fun to own and become a nice addition to your collection.

M Mint - We rarely use this grade. M- Mint Minus - a clean copy, probably unplayed record, no detected scratches or scuffs VG++ Very Good Plus Plus (We use this grade as Goldmine uses the VG+ description). Record is close to like new with only superficial signs of use that should not affect play. Only well cared for records will grade out to VG++ . (Most flaws are restricted to 1 or two small light scuffs or scratches and usually seen only under bright light) STRONG VG+ STRONG Very Good+ We use this grade alot. The record still has nice luster and some light surface and/or paper scuffs may be seen with the naked eye. (scratches are not felt with the bare hand)(Most flaws are restricted to a few light scuffs or scratches and mostly seen only under bright light) VG+ Very Good Plus A used, reasonable copy. (We use this grade as Goldmine uses the VG description)There will be signs of groove wear and visible light scratches and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still should be enjoyable to listen to. (scratches are not felt with the bare hand) We try to use these two grades minimally as we try not to put on anything that would be obnoxious to the ear; however, we do come across some great oldie goldies that may look well-played and well-loved and still bring enjoyment to listen to. VG Very Good significant groove wear and marks and noticeable light background/surface noise. The items we put on should still be enjoyable to listen to! If you are making your own CDs/MP3s with capability to clean up the background and pop/clicks, you should have a piece that will sound nice after it is recorded. We don't have time to listen to all the records we put up in auctions or our store, the vg+ range is broad. records may have several scratches to just one or two, therefore, our grading of VG+/SVG+/VG++. In our GEMM Catalog we try to keep to stricker Goldmine grading and do not break down the VG+ category. All in all even VG pieces can play nicely and still be enjoyed. We are not the connoisseurs of vinyl but know that the majority of buyers are looking for a long lost piece or just want to enjoy the music for their collection and should have no problems with our grading system. On 45 listings we show you both sides of the record and you can see the flaws without reiteration. On albums, we only show you the front jacket and long shot of the label. If there are flaws, we try to note all of them, however, we may miss something unintentionally. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have. Please do so before the auction ends. Please review all the grading. We stand behind and guarantee all the items we sale and we will come to a mutual solution if there is a problem. We clean each record before it gets shipped, it is removed from the jacket to avoid damage, and shipped with an inner sleeve and all are placed in a plastic sleeve. Records are carefully packed and we rarely have an issue with breakage. We have fixed shipping fees which include a $2.00 handling fee to cover cardboard fillers, bubble wrap and tape and plus delivery tracking confirmation. We live 20 miles from a post office that gives us the service that we require, we do not ship everyday. If you need your package immediately, do not use MEDIA mail! (Media mail takes 9-14 working days and longer at holiday times). We are always happy to combine shipping. For our international customers, we will also combine shipping. You may purchase 4-5 albums for the under 4 pound rule. We also have a third party insurance company that will insure your package. (Does not apply to all countries). If your package goes over the 4 pound rate, it is sent parcel post and may be insured through the USPS. ALL PACKAGES WITH INSURANCE MUST HAVE THE FULL VALUE DECLARED ON CUSTOM SLIPS!

WE will not be responsible FOR DAMAGE OR LOSS BY THE POSTAL SERVICE and or CUSTOMS. Packages sent by SURFACE MAIL are more apt to encounter shipping problems. THIS IS WHY WE OFFER OPTIONAL INSURANCE ON THE PACKAGE. Please, do not expect us to refund you for a package that has been damaged or lost in transit. If you have concerns about your package or it is valuable to you, INSURE IT!
