THAD JONES “The Magnificent Thad Jones” Blue Note RVG, DG, P, BLP 1527 mono Vinyl

This is 1957, first edition, "RVG-"etched, Deep Groove, Flat Rim, “P” pressing of THAD JONES’  “The Magnificent Thad Jones” ” on the "767 Lexington Ave” labels of Blue Note BLP 1527. Musicians include Thad Jones – trumpet, Billy Mitchell - tenor saxophone, Kenny Burrell – guitar, Barry Harris – piano, Percy Heath – bass, Max Roach - drums.

FLAT RIM VINYL plays with light surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. But ensemble sections are very clear, dynamic and strong. Plays beautifully overall. 5 skips in “April in Paris.” No distortion. Good gloss. Handful of hairline marks, couple feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The Deep Groove "767 Lexington Ave” labels show some aging and spindle marks. See photos.

REISSUE COVER is pristine. Corners worn. One corner cut. In Shrinkwrap. Seams and Spine clean. Please see photos.

   

This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANER.
