THE ALBERT NICHOLAS QUARTETThe Albert Nicholas Quartet
1960 US DELMAR RECORDS (DL-207) FIRST PRESSING *MONO*
*ONE OF A SMALL COLLECTION OF JAZZ LPs I RECENTLY ACQUIRED WHICH I WILL BE LISTING OVER THE COMING DAYS - ALL IN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING CONDITION
Like Sidney Bechet, clarinetist Albert Nicholas moved permanently to France later in his career.
Although he was there 20 years (1953 until his death in 1973), Nicholas never received Bechet's fame, but he seemed to prosper overseas, no longer having to be concerned with Americans' lack of interest in traditional jazz.
This particular album, one of two cut by Nicholas during a rare 1959 visit to the States received glowing reviews - ''One is left without any doubt about Nicholas being far and away the greatest living jazz clarinetist.'' (The Gramophone).

An outstanding as-new barely played copy which delivers crystal clear, clean, bright sound throughout - plays with nothing to fault - always reluctant to grade a record of this age MINT but the sound is flawless - a pretty unbeatable copy and a fantastic record - very highly recommended
