Description

THE ALL NIGHT WORKERS * NORTHERN SOUL / PSYCH * LOU REED * 7" 45
This is an original 1965 US Round Sound Records 45 rpm 7 inch single containing the original of the Northern Soul smasher titled 'DON'T PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET' from THE ALL NIGHT WORKERS.
This is the 1st 45 that Lou Reed & John Cale collaborated on together prior to forming
"The Velvet Underground"
The flip side is titled 'WHY DON'T YOU SMILE' and is a nice glimpse into the future VU as you can clearly hear that special modern groove with a long spacy psychedelic foggy brain addiction that describes the wonderful Velvet Underground sound.
It was later covered by such acts as Spiritualized, Crawdaddys, Downliners Sect, Delmonas, Thee Headcoats among others.
The catalog number is RS-1. Stamper numbers are PPC-1005-A-1 and PPC-1005-XB-1. Published by Barmour Music (BMI).
Condition of record is a nice VG+ The record plays very nicely with very little surface noise. As shown in the image, the labels have some contact wear.
A nice piece of Soul / Psych history, which hasn't been offered on eBay, neither at auction nor at fixed price sale, for quite a while.
A super-rare addition to any record collection!
