It seems that half the bands out of Philadelphia in the late 60's had Todd Rundgren involved in one way or another. In the case of The American Dream, Todd was the Producer and Engineer. Also in the band was Nick Jameson who would later have a hand in Foghat.

However if any comparisons were to be made, there is a striking resemblance to Moby Grape. Especially on songs like "Future's Folly". These guys had the same three guitar alternating vocal style. I remember them getting some exposure on the FM in Philadelphia, but it was probably only local.

Actually this is a pretty good album that doesn't sound too dated, at least not to these ears. The closing song on side 2 is the pretty much psychedelic "Rasberries" that would make any old timer yearn for the days.
