THE ARTWOODS

ART GALLERY

Original Unboxed Decca Label LK 4830 1966 Mono

This is an incredibly rare album to find especially in this condition

The sleeve is in Excellent condition for its age.The front is laminated. There is a small crease in the top right hand corner and a bit of pitting around the entrance to the cover on the flip side. The back is also slightly discoloured , but is in pretty good shape overall. The spine is totally intact.

The vinyl itself which is still in its original inner sleeve is in excellent condition apart from a few light surface marks. It plays fantastically. No pops or crackles anywhere. It has hardly ever been played by the sound of it. You'd be hard pressed to find  one as good as this.

THE ARTWOODS

Some bands are destined to be remembered not so much for their recorded output but for the band members. The artwoods were such a band.

Fronted by Ronnie Woods elder brother Art, the group featured guitarist Derek Griffiths, bassist Malcom Pool and keyboard player none other than Deep Purple maestro Jon Lord. Drummer Keef Hartley had replaced Ringo Starr in Rory Storm and the Hurricanes in 62 and returned to London the following year. Formed in 64 , the group signed with Decca but despite releasing 'Sweet Mary' and a trio of great singles in 66- plus a ridiculously collectable and valuable album Art Gallery and EP Jazz in Jeans, chart success and pop stardom eluded them
