Description

THE ASSOCIATION
DEBUT SINGLE

Before the pop group the Association were the Association, they started out as a folk group called The Inner Tubes, and later as The Men. They played in LA at places like the Troubadour and lost members, gained members and did all that usual garage band stuff. Once they settled in on their new pop persona, they spent time as a regular house band at the Ice House in Pasadena, and auditioned for several labels. This 45 is their first appearance on record and it’s quite tough to find these days.

This single is from June of 1965, and pairs up “Baby, I’m Gonna Leave You” and “Baby Can’t You Hear Me Call Your Name.”  It would be nearly a year before they found their first chart success, and that would be with the pop tune “Along Comes Mary.” This early single reveals a much more bluesy root of the group often overlooked.

Yes, it IS the same song that was later done by Led Zeppelin.
