Description

An original VERY RARE pre release 7" Mono ACETATE version of The Avengers TV Theme by Laurie Johnson in 1965. This is a one sided 'Advance Pressing PYE' acetate, date stamped 3 Dec 1965, and with 'The Avengers - Laurie Johnson Ork' hand written on the label. It is a plain white sleeve. This is likely a version produced in a handfull of copies for either checking purposes or perhaps for advance radio use. This is the only copy I have ever seen or heard about.

As to the condition, as you can see the glue behind the label has dried out in places and now shows through, but is still firmly affixed. The playing surface has the usual wear and light scratching associated with acetates (which were only designed to be played a few times), but generally looks good for a 1960's acetate. There is some surface noise (as usual for acetates), but the music is recorded at a very high level and mostly drowns out the surface noise and sounds very good. It does not jump on my record deck. As far as I know the music is the same version as the released version, but you never know! This description is presented in good faith as I am not a professional record dealer/grader.
