Description
The Awakening - God Come Down (LP)
Christos Records CS-1001.
Mysterious, privately-pressed Christian effort with all kinds of unexpected sounds and textures.
"Half oversung and half moody deep Christian folky group. A couple of heavier tracks including a great one with distorted electric guitar. Nice homemade project vibe going on here, introspective latenite winner. The sleeve offers no clues on their identity or origins." -Acid Archives
"Good homemade electric sound coupled with artsy intentions..They sample plugged-in folkrock, melodic light rock, simple acoustic tunes with harmonica or flute, even some hard rock and psychedelic moves, including some dreamy echoed vocal effects and crude burst of fuzz guitar (the latter occurs as Jesus confronts the Pharisees)" -Ken Scott, Archivist
CONDITION: This one is a heartbreaker. Side one is VG+, with some minor (non-distracting) surface noise. Side two, on the other hand, has some formidible scratches, particularly on the first three tracks. On my turntable, the first couple of tracks skipped four times. It could skip more, or less, on your turntable... After those tracks, it settles down. Still, because of the scratches, I would grade side two as G, and thus, this is not a "dream copy"--please consider that when bidding. That said, the last copy I saw on eBay went for $188, and to reflect the less-than-stellarness of this one, we'll start bidding at $9.99.
The cover is a strong VG...no seam splits, but if you hold the front cover at an angle, you can see where someone wrote "Tender Loving Care" on a sheet of paper that was obviously placed on top of this.
