THE B52'S DEBUT LP PLAY LOUD a 1979 UK STEREO FIRST pressing, on the ISLAND LABEL. CAT#ILPS9580. Maybe more than any other New Wave record, The B52's debut was like nothing anyone had heard before. They looked like freaky cardboard cutouts on the cover with fashion that was at once retro and futuristic. The in your face boldness of the colors displayed the same arrogance as the music itself. There were dances specifically for the songs. The music was the stuff of parties and dance halls. The fun they were having was infectious, and that's what this record is. This is a rare UK first pressing with the "Play Loud" on the labels. This copy ROCKS.
COVER VG+. The cover is laminated, and with a beautiful shine. It has a bottom left corner ding, and a smudge bottom center left. The opening is wavy, as if there was water damage. I guess someone was dancing this mess around... Back cover also has a smaller smudge at bottom. The waviness of the back cover is more noticeable because of the super shine of the laminate. The seams and spine are perfect. All in all a pretty beautiful cover
VINYL. NEAR MINT -- An outstanding copy, and made exceptionally enjoyable by the great audio quality of the UK recording.
OG INNER is VG+ with 3-4 smudges on each side. The seams are all in great shape
