Description

Beautiful copy of the original 1969 first pressing of the Band’s self-titled LP (“The Brown Album”) on Capitol STAO-132. Original green labels and textured gatefold cover. Robert Ludwig mastering, with his initials in the runoffs, making it probably the best-sounding pressing ever. The disc is just beautiful and plays completely flawlessly and truly stunningly. A couple of entirely superficial scuff marks but barely at all. Really a top disc. The cover is also nearly pristine, with only a touch of light shelfwear. Really a lovely original copy, hard to beat.

This Brown Album is the main thing here, but I also include a slightly lesser copy of their first album, Music from Big Pink. This is a 1967 first pressing with the rainbow labels and gatefold cover. The disc has some visible scuffing and a lot of little marks, but remarkably it plays near perfectly as well! It looks like it would play noisily but to my surprise every time, it plays quietly and amazingly beautifully. The cover has some fraying at the upper left corner but otherwise only has light general shelfwear, and not bad at all. No seam splits or real damage. Despite the visible scuffing on the disc this is a really great copy.

A wonderful pair of original Band albums!
