Description

Pet Sounds was a hit in the UK, where it topped the charts. Before its release there, Brian's tour fill-in Bruce Johnston took two copies with him to London and managed—through Beach Boys fanatic Keith Moon—to arrange a meeting at a hotel with John Lennon and Paul McCartney to play it for them. They listened to it once through, paused, and immediately asked to hear the album again. Shortly afterward, the two began to work on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

According to Beatles producer George Martin, "Without Pet Sounds, Sgt. Pepper never would have happened....Pepper was an attempt to equal Pet Sounds."

THE BEACH BOYS~PET SOUNDS~MEGA RARE GUARANTEED FIRST U.S. PRESSING ORIGINAL 1966 CAPITOL DT 2458 STEREO. ORIGINAL BLACK CAPITOL LABEL WITH MULTICOLORED COLORBAND AKA “RAINBOW” LABELS. COVER IS THICK BOARD (AMERICAN STYLE) IN EX CONDITION. (SEE PHOTO’S) INCLUDES THE CAPITOL INNER SLEEVE! THICK, HEAVY VINYL PRESSING WITH FIRST MATRIX NUMBERS IN TRAIL-OFF VINYL AS DT 1- DT2 (DEAD WAX) ENDS WITH '-A-15/-B-16. SMALL WRITING ON LABEL SIDE 1 (SEE PHOTO) THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC, U.S. PRESSING. # 5 L.A. PRESSING PLANT. NOT A NEW 180 GRAM REISSUE/REMASTER/DIGITIZED REPRESS BUT THE ORIGINAL ANALOG 1966 STEREO PRESSING! ORIGINAL RECORDINGS ARE THE BEST IN MY OPINION! SOME NEW VINYL'S SAY "TAKEN FROM THE ORIGINAL ANALOG  TAPES/RECORDINGS" BUT THEY STILL DON'T MATCH UP WITH THE ORIGINALS! ORIGINALS ARE GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO FIND!!

  • Thick American style board cover in great shape. One of the cleanest Pet Sounds cover I've ever had to offer. The vinyl shows some various light scratches both sides. Play is fine meaning no skips, jumps or repeats. The disc runs true on the turntable. Sound is great in my opinion with mild surface noise during softer musical passages. Nothing that overpowers the music. I enjoyed listening to this great album! Good Luck! and Happy Bidding!!
