100% Original 1965 Mono First Pressing in Beautiful Original Shrink Wrap – Flawless Near Mint Vinyl!
This is a sensational, collector-grade original copy of The Beach Boys Today! (Capitol Records, T 2269). Released in early 1965, and manufactured at the Decca Records Pressing Plant in Picneyville, Illinois, this masterpiece marks the legendary transition point where Brian Wilson retired from touring to construct the deeply emotional, complex studio arrangements that directly paved the way for Pet Sounds.
It features the side-one upbeat pop perfection of "Do You Wanna Dance?" and "Help Me, Rhonda," balanced by the breathtaking, symphonic side-two ballads like "Please Let Me Wonder" and "She Knows Me Too Well."
Finding a clean copy of this historically vital album is difficult, but finding a well-preserved specimen with flawless vinyl tucked inside its original 1960s shrink wrap is an absolute rarity.
Jacket Condition: Excellent (EX) in Original Shrink Wrap
The Shrink Wrap: The jacket is beautifully preserved inside its original 1965 factory shrink wrap (safely opened at the mouth to access the vinyl). The shrink has perfectly locked in the vibrant, deep orange cover artwork, protecting it from the heavy ring wear, corner rubbing, and seam splitting that ruins most surviving copies.
Sleeve: Original sleeve in good condition but contains a fold and a rip in the seam at the bottom (see last photo)
Structure: The spine is perfectly readable, and the seams are completely crisp and rigid. Features the clean, uniform top-center industry cut-out/distributor hole punch.
Vinyl Condition: Very Good ++ to Near Mint (NM) – Like Brand New!
Visual Appearance: The vinyl disc is an absolute time capsule. It retains its full, radiant factory mirror-gloss luster. Under intense direct lighting, the playing surfaces look spectacular—completely free of nasty scratches or heavy scuffs.
Labels: Features the original 1960s Capitol "Rainbow/Black" labels in great condition. There is virtually zero spindle wear around the center hole, indicating this record was handled with extreme care and played only a handful of times.
