The Beatles - 'Abbey Road'. PCS 7088
The Beatles 1969 UK 1st FACTORY SAMPLE pressing of the 'Abbey Road' LP. Released on the 26th September 1969, and complete with the rare MISALIGNED APPLE COVER, PROMOTIONAL ‘A IS FOR APPLE RECORDS’ STICKER AND UNUSUAL BLACK INNER WITH TEXT. It is offered here in WONDERFUL EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT- condition.
These initial early factory sample pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers, radio stations or used as quality control within the pressing plant.
Issued on the dark Apple Records label this 1st UK promotional pressing has the a FACTORY SAMPLE sticker to the a-side label and an ‘A IS FOR APPLE RECORDS’ promo sticker to the b-side label. The vinyl is housed within a very unusual and rare original black die cut inner sleeve which unlike any other I have ever seen before ALSO states the patent number and ‘Made in Great Britain’ text. ALL others I have seen in 20+ years of buying, selling and collecting have been completely plain, so quite a rarity alone. Could it be a prototype or unique to demo issues?
The sleeve is the very earliest issue with mis-aligned Apple logo on the rear cover. The Apple logo SHOULD be aligned with the track listing but due to a printing error on the initial copies the Apple was printed too far to the left and not in correct alignment with the 'Apple Records' wording. The cover also omits the final track 'Her Majesty' which appears on the later issues. Both sides of the vinyl also feature the very earliest matrix numbers for this release, ending with -2 and -1 respectively. A magnificent Abbey Road package on offer here. Very few if any more at all will exist with such rare components.

The vinyl is in EXCELLENT condition.
Both labels are in EXCELLENT+ condition.
The sleeve is in EXCELLENT- condition.
The inner sleeve is in EXCELLENT- condition. I shall include an additional inner sleeve to protect the original.
