“A HARD DAY’S NIGHT”

MEGARARE and hard-to-find original High Fidelity MONO reissue released in Chile in 1973 (or 1974) by EMI Odeon Chilena S.A., catalog number 5053, with machine etched matrix numbers XEX 481-3N 21 2 in Side A and XEX 482-3N 24 2 in Side B, with very unusual white/black EMI Odeon Records logo!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!! Original Chilean copies of 1965 of this record are easier to find, just try to remember how many copies of this LP with these labels have been listed here in eBay, your own answer will tell you the level of rarity this LP has. And what a SUPERB condition of both covers and record!!! Yes, Sirs, AMAZING FIND!!!

“A HARD DAY’S NIGHT” was originally released in 1964 and after that, year after years, we could see many reissues and if you know Chilean records of The Beatles you will also know the kind of cover we got. Late 1973 or maybe in 1974 we got a new reissue of The Beatles albums, this time with new catalog number and, finally (!!!), with full laminated covers!!! Front cover has an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, only used in Chile, and back cover is also totally different, with album title written in Spanish and English, “Canciones de la película YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, PAUL, JOHN, GEORGE Y RINGO (A HARD DAY’S NIGHT) (La noche de un día agitado)” (Songs from the film Yeah, Yeah, Yea, Paul, John, George and Ringo) and with a complete review of the movie and the songs of sides 1 and 2 written in Spanish. It’s interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Faz Uno” and “Faz Dos” but in labels they are “A” and “B”. In back cover the tracklist is in English, translated to Spanish, but in labels the tracklist is in English only with the title of the album written in Spanish only. It’s also interesting to see that in front cover the title is “A HARD DAY’S NIGHT (YEAH YEAH YEAH) Canciones de la Película”, in back cover is “Canciones de la película YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, PAUL, JOHN, GEORGE Y RINGO (A HARD DAY’S NIGHT) (La noche de un día agitado)” and in labels it’s “Canciones de la Película “¡Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Paul, John, George y Ringo!” (A Hard Day’s Night)”. The only difference in the design of this reissue is that at top right corner of this reissue is the new catalog number. Other rare fact to notice is that in back cover it’s informed this record was made and distributed by EMI Odeon Chilena S.A., but in labels it’s "Odeon S.A.-Chile". This is the very first time I see a Chilean record by The Beatles with only “ODEON S.A.-Chile” written. The labels, as you can see, are black and white but the design wasn’t changed yet to the new brown/black labels. And maybe the most curious fact to notice of this copy is the error they did in both labels, in Side A, the song “I’m Happy Just To Dance With You”, correctly written in back cover, it’s shortened “I’M HAPPY JUST TO DANCE WITH”, with the word “YOU” omitted, and in Side B, the title of the album is misspelled “A HALD Day’s Night”. So, yes, Sirs, this is really one of those finds you don’t see so often, a stunning Chilean copy of this reissue with full laminated cover, an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, unusual white/black labels and UNIQUE ERRORS!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all The Beatles collectors worldwide!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX+ or NM- condition, no marks, no writings, no blemishes, only minimal wear in corners, minimal creases, lamination is complete and all edges solid with no seam splits, it has some faint ring mark and very light age browning in the mouth edge in back cover. The record is not so thick like original press of 1964 but it’s in superb VG+ or EX- condition the Side A, glossy and clean, but with some big scuffs, which of course don’t affect play at all, and in absolute EX+ or NM- condition the Side B, glossy and clean like the first day, with very minimal scuffs, no scratches at all. Labels are in NM or NM+ condition both sides, with not even spindle hole wear and the white color is still white, with no age browning. The sound is in strong NM- or NM condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), no clicks, no pops, only some really light occasional pops here and there, hard to hear if you are not looking for them, more “evident” in the silent parts between the songs. Overall, a very nice record with an UNIQUE COVER, with still a very glossy look and a superb sound quality after more than 40 years, a record to see and hear, to enjoy from the beginning to the end, no repetitions, no sticks, no jumps, no distortions at all. And keep in mind this is a rare reissue of late 1973 or 1974 with FULL LAMINATED COVER, almost never seen, and it has the UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE only used here in Chile, it has white labels and UNIQUE ERRORS!!! Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
