THE BEATLES- ‘BEATLES FOR SALE’
AN ORIGINAL 1964 UK FIRST ISSUE BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE MONO VINYL LP – PMC 1240
Summary:
‘BEATLES FOR SALE’ was the band’s Fourth UK album, released by EMI/Parlophone on 4 December 1964. The album went straight to Number 1, knocking The Beatles previous album, A Hard Day’s Night off the top slot!
Album Description/Condition
Released by EMI/Parlophone UK on 4 December 1964, this FIRST ISSUE MONO Vinyl LP is on the traditional BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE Label, with ‘The Parlophone Co Ltd’ label rim, ‘Sold in UK…’ , ‘Recording First Published 1964’ and ‘Made in Gt Britain’ printed to both sides of the record labels.
Both sides of the record labels are, without doubt, a tad short of mint. They are both GORGEOUS - UNDAMAGED and UNFADED, with nothing more than just a couple of barely visible centre spider trails.
Both sides of the HEAVYWEIGHT vinyl disc too are just short of mint. Difficult to fault the BARELY PLAYED vinyl playing surfaces in any way. BEAUTIFUL, GLOSSY Vinyl, looks as it would have done on its day of issue.
Side 1 matrix XEX 503-4N and Side 2: XEX 504-3N.
The embossed ‘KT’ tax/price code is visible to the centre of the Side 2 record label.
Audio Quality:
The album plays as GOOD AS IT LOOKS – its just SUPERB through ALL the tracks – plays without faults, just a pure POWERFUL EARLY MONO Sound Quality.
The album comes in an ORIGINAL Lined Use ‘Emitex’ Printed Inner Bag which is in near mint condition.
And is housed in its ORIGINAL First issue LAMINATED Garrod and Lofthouse GATEFOLD sleeve, with cover photography by Robert Freeman taken in Hyde Park, with sleeve notes by Derek Taylor.
UNUSUALLY, this RICH COLOURED First Issue Gatefold sleeve is IMMACULATE. The majority that we see, due to the delicate construction of the Gatefold sleeve, tend to suffer from a lot of wear and tear to the edges and seams. This ULTRA GLOSSY Sleeve has a BEAUTIFUL near mint front and reverse panel, AND a near mint inner Gatefold, with NO damage whatsoever – VERY RARE!!

GRADINGS
MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised, as Sealed or Unplayed will be mint.
EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, possibly with light surface marks but there will be very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD + The record may have scuff marks and signs of some wear but will still play almost perfectly throughout, with only barely detectable crackles or pops. A slight noise at the beginning is allowable, but the remainder must be nearly flawless. Definitely no scratches or gouges that a touch with a dry finger can feel. The cover may only have the slightest signs of normal wear.
VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
ALL RECORDS ARE PACKED IN PROPER MAILERS WITH STIFFENERS
