Description

This is the ultra rare last Vee Jay release of England's Greatest Recording Stars, The Beatles. Available only for a short period of time in October of 1964 (supposedly) and it didn't sell well.  Estimates on how many were sold/pressed seem to say in the 100 range. Probably higher but who knows. This mono press is extraordinary in that it's still in the original bag with two different price tags. One is a paper insert with sale prices, the other an actual tag. The cover is very close to mint. Some wear on exposed edges of opening and the bag has some scratches/tears in it. All seams are perfect and spine is intact and completely readable. The inner sleeve is plain and I am fairly sure it's original but no way of knowing. This came from a crate in a middle aged man's barn/shed where all the other lps were in their shrink and mostly in perfect condition. The disc is a mystery. Hard to determine the actual pressing. Seems to have a unique label design (brackets VJ and rainbow rim with title and song titles arranged like I've never seen elsewhere). The dead wax info is also strange. I tried to show as much as I could. It does not have an MR Monarch stamp or the triangle 6285 etching. Has URL and 64-3852/3  and what I would imagine is a date etched in both sides 1-18-64. Knowing this is a Vee Jay release any type of shoddy practice could be expected. Perhaps it's a leftover disc from the Jolly What! version stuck in the "portrait" cover (Love Me Do picture sleeve on Tollie artwork) Spindle hole is pretty clean and there is no writing anywhere. Disc has nice gloss and labels are clean.
