“HELP!”

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and hard-to-find original MONO very first press released in Chile in 1965 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records), an EMI company, catalog number LDC-36543, with machine etched matrix numbers XEX 549-2 4N (“N” inverted) 43 in Side A and XEX 550-2 7N (“N” inverted) 2 in Side 2, with ORIGINAL MAROON/SILVER ODEON LABELS!!! Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND!!! An authentic very first edition of “HELP!” released in Chile!!! You get Odeon Records labels with NO EMI box, “(P) 1965” and “Serie Estelar” written in both labels and back cover. WOW!!! And what a SUPERB condition of both covers and record!!! You have seen many of these here in eBay, with different color of labels (black labels are rare), but if you really like and know Chilean issues of “Help!”, you should have already noticed that the GOAL in this record it’s in the blue text of back cover!!! Yes Sirs, INCREDIBLE FIND!!!

“HELP” was originally released in 1965 and the same year it was released in Chile, but like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER!!! The cover is unlaminated and is the typical Chilean cover made of 2 single sheets of paper attached (not glued) to a thin cardboard kept together for an outer plastic bag. Paper is very fragile, but in this case it’s in great condition, because some past owner had the idea to remove the original plastic bag, which usually got ripped and dirty easily. Front cover keeps the original UK artwork, with album title in English and at the bottom edge written in Spanish “Original Soundtrack From The Movie Of Same Title And Seven Tracks More”, but back cover is totally different, with title in English, translated to Spanish, and the complete list of The Beatles records, albums and singles, released in Chile until that moment, including catalog numbers and complete tracklists for each record!!! At the bottom is the Odeon logo and at the 1/3 right side it’s the tracklist of “HELP”, in English with capital letters and translated to Spanish, with credits and lead voice informed. It’s interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Faz 1” and “Faz 2” but in labels they are informed “A” and “B”. In back cover the tracklist is in English, translated to Spanish, but in labels the tracklist is in English only. And the title of the album is in English in both front and back cover, but in label it only says in Side 1: “CANCIONES DE LA PELICULA “HELP!”” (Songs From The Film “Help!”).

Yes Sirs, this is really one of those finds you don’t see so often, one of the original copies of this famous album released in Chile in 1965. And see the pictures, WHAT A GREAT CONDITION!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!! Remember the characteristics you must see to know if it’s the very first cover and the very first record. In front cover at top left corner it’s a double box with Odeon logo inside a black box at left and EMI logo inside a white box at right. In later pressings the logo boxes are above and below. In back cover it’s the “Serie Estelar” (Stellar Serie) at top edge at left side of the catalog number, with full discography released in Chile, albums and singles. In later pressings they omitted the singles and added the covers of the 4 albums. Labels are maroon/silver with big Odeon logo at top, “(P) 1965” written above the catalog number and “Serie Estelar” below the catalog number at left side of spindle hole. So, here you have the chance to own an authentic very first press of “HELP!” released in Chile. But this is not a common press with black text in back cover, this is a MEGARARE PRESS WITH BLUE TEXT IN BACK COVER!!! How many times have you seen this press with blue text? YES SIRS, ALMOST NEVER SEEN!!! And see what a great condition!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX or EX+ condition, just like if it was made yesterday, almost perfect, white is white, no marks, no writings, minimal creases at edges, no blemishes, with minimal wear in the mouth and corners, some light age browning in back cover, more evident in the part where the original outer plastic bag was opened. The record is thick and it’s in superb EX or even EX+ condition the Side A, glossy and clean but with some light hairlines and scuffs, and in EX- or EX condition the Side B, glossy and clean but with a very light scratch and some scuffs which don’t affect play. Labels are in VG or VG+ condition the Side A, absolutely clean and clear, but some past owner had the bad idea to stick something with a name and then someone deleted the name with black pen, and in absolute NM- or NM condition the Side B, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is the best part of this record, it’s in strong EX+ or NM- condition the Side A, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), no clicks, no pops, only some really light crackles here and there, hard to hear if you are not looking for them and which don’t distract at all, and in NM- or NM condition the Side B, with only minimal occasional crackles and a soft hiss in “Yesterday”, which of course don’t cause any distraction from the superb audio this record keeps from the beginning to the end. I can say most of the songs play in absolute NM+ condition!!! But I’d recommend a vacuum cleaning anyway. Overall, a nice record with an UNIQUE COVER, with still a very glossy look and a great sound quality after 47 years, a record to see and hear to enjoy from the beginning to the end, no repetitions, no sticks, no jumps, no distortions at all. Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a copy of this RARE record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
