EXTREMELY RARE 1968 PHILIPS UK contract pressing 45

 for Parlophone R 5722

with 3 "PRONGED" centre piece

and "SOLD IN U.K." label text

Side One matrix: 7XCE 21185-1

Side Two matrix: 7XCE 21186-1

 with KT in run-out grooves

Despite quite "ordinary" appearances, THIS IS A VERY RARE ITEM!

  Vinyl in  VERY GOOD- Condition

Labels in  VERY GOOD+ Condition

Company sleeve in VERY GOOD+Condition

The vinyl displays many visible light surface marks and a couple of light hairlines/nicks, but plays without major problems, the occasional "pop" only.

 

Due to the overwhelming demand for Beatles 45s throughout their career, Parlophone (who pressed APPLE records usually) found themselves forced to contract out the manufacture of their 45s. Such contracts typically went to Decca, Pye and, in this case, Philips.

That said, how do we identify a PHILIPS pressing? Well, cast a glance at the centre piece, and, in particular at the "PRONGS" between it and the record "body". PHILIPS pressings have 3 prongs, unlike the usual 4 prongs of Parlophone/APPLE (see below).
